Actually, we got connected for our next 96 hour chemo marathon which started our Second of Four Cycles. At the end of this week, we will be half way to the finish line!
I noticed that Chuck is having a harder time having to undergo chemo and is resigning himself as a necessary evil of the whole process. Now that all of the preliminary tests, chemo/radiation, surgery and recovery have already happened, he's enjoying the three weeks of relative good health that he has between chemo cycles. Because of the higher dose, he is more aware of his discomfort levels. It's not the pain but more his feeling of his body being "out of sorts". It knows SOMETHING is going on, but not sure what or why anymore seeing as the invader is gone. We just need to remember how close we are to being done with this (minus all of the follow up appointments that is)!
We were talking the other day about how lucky Chuck really is through all this. We both know people who are either going through chemo or have completed their therapies or we see them hooked up to their IV at the Cancer Institute, and we are lucky that Chuck gets connected and can walk out without sitting for literally HOURS hooked up to an IV. He can walk out and have the pump do its thing for the next 96 hours of his life. He can walk out and deal with any unpleasantness in the comfort of his home. He can walk out and be with his family and friends while the chemo works its magic. Okay, so I won't make him do ALL of the work - I'll help peddle a little!! Yep, he's pretty darn lucky!
