To pump or not to pump...?

I think we're taking the "to pump"!

Definitions of pump on the Web:
- a low-cut shoe without fastenings - NOPE (can you see Chuck wearing a shoe around his waist??)
- operate like a pump; move up and down, like a handle or a pedal - NOPE (not nice enough weather to go bike riding - oh, yea, we'd need a bike first!)
- deliver forth; "pump bullets into the dummy" - NOPE (I don't want to visit him in jail so we'll skip this one.)
- draw or pour with a pump - NOPE (Hey, he's a man of the 21st century now - blogging, twittering, multiple tattoos...)
- supply in great quantities; "Pump money into a project" - NOPE (although it does merit consideration with all the medical bills)
- move up and down; "The athlete pumps weights in the gym" - NOPE (some day soon when he can use his left arm for repetitive motion)
- question persistently; "She pumped the witnesses for information" - NOPE (we kinda are with the doctors)
- a mechanical device that moves fluid or gas by pressure or suction - DING, DING, DING

Tonight is going to be an experiment. Chuck will attempt to sleep in bed tonight rather than downstairs in the chair or on the sofa. Now that he is hooked to his "life line", we're not sure how it will fair. IF Chuck sleeps on his right side or back all night, we'll be okay since he's hooked up on his left and the fanny pack sits more on his left side. So, I'm hoping the clamps don't close as I'm not sure I'll hear the pump go off IF he should sleep wrong and effect them. He's willing to try so I say, let's stay as "normal" as we can through this all.

While this whole process is the 900 pound gorilla sitting the the corner of the room, we're still trying to stay as normal as possible ---- considering. All of our waking conversations are not going to revolve around this. We went through those types of conversations when Chuck was unemployed in the early 90's and I refuse to do it again!! However, there will be times and/or certain days that it will be the center of our conversations. Like today. A lot of people have inquired as to how Chuck is doing so the news is new. We realize that they need to express their love and concern for him just as much as we need to hear it. We are all about keeping motivated and staying positive!!

You probably read that I sent Chuck some flowers. Actually, it was a Sunshine Bouquet with lots of yellows and white and a big smiling sun (1-800-FLOWERS). For anyone that wants to get a bit sentimental, this is what I wrote:

Just to keep the positive flow going.
Know that I love you & wish you nothing but sunshine through these dark times.
Smile & believe that we are fighters & all good fights need the first steps.
Love Cyndy
(PS: I had a very limited amount of characters for my note so I did the best I could.)

One last comment for those that are wondering the type of nausea medicine that they gave Chuck. NO, it wasn't. We will not be having any "legal parties" with Chuck's drug. They did not give him marijana even though it was April 20 (4/20).

Another PS: Gavin, Happy First Birthday - G'ma loves you!
